银行卡、信用卡等国外支付方式通过广东等沿海地区传到中国;

Chinese-style payment" has successfully countered the trend of cashless transactions in the world.

China News Network 2018-02-06 09:23:32800 Review

500 million people around the world use China Mobile to watch 500 million people worldwide use China Mobile Payment

Today, more and more Chinese people like to spend the Spring Festival holiday with their families by traveling abroad.

For overseas countries, the arrival of Chinese people not only brings consumer demand,

It also brings "Chinese-style payment" based on mobile Internet and electronic wallet.

Analysts pointed out that in the early days of China’s reform and opening up,

Foreign payment methods such as bank cards and credit cards are transmitted to China through coastal areas such as Guangdong;

Now, it is the “Chinese payment” such as WeChat red envelope and Alipay, which leads the global consumer payment trend.

This "between one in and one out",

It not only reflects the pattern of China's opening up to the outside world, but also reflects the fact that China's economic development quality and overall strength have not been the same.

Industry status is rising rapidly

"The remarkable growth of China's tourism industry has made us realize that we must act quickly.

Forming an alliance with Alipay is an important step forward for us.

This will increase the number of customers of Israeli companies and allow them to enter a new market. ”

Israeli credit card company CEO Doron Sapir said.

At the end of January 2018, Alipay announced its entry into Israel and officially brought mobile payment services to the Middle East. In the future, Israel's well-known airlines, jewelry stores, and chain duty-free shops will be able to pay with Alipay.

This has become another latest step in the "Chinese-style payment" going overseas.

For a long time, China has been in the “follow-and-run” mode in the payment field.

One day in 1949, American businessman Frank McNamara found himself without a wallet when dining at a restaurant in New York. He had to call his wife to bring cash to the hotel to check out.

Subsequently, he came up with the idea of designing a card that can prove identity and have a payment function and created the Diners Club credit card company, and the cashless payment method was born.

After the reform and opening up, China boldly introduced foreign advanced science and technology and management experience.

Credit card, an internationally popular payment instrument, is also registered in China and has developed rapidly.

In 1979, the Bank of China Guangdong Branch first signed an agreement with the Bank of East Asia, and began to act as an agent for the East Asian credit card business. Credit cards have since entered the Chinese mainland.

In June 1986, the Bank of China Beijing Branch issued the Great Wall Credit Card, which not only filled a gap in China’s financial history.

Moreover, the payment method that marked the traditional Chinese “hands-on, one-handed delivery” began to undergo major changes.

Since then, non-cash payment instruments such as checks, bank drafts, money orders, and bank cards, which rely on bank credit, have gradually replaced cash and popularized applications.

With the development of computer technology, especially the popularity of mobile internet and smart phones,

China’s online e-commerce is developing rapidly.

The new mobile payment methods, such as third-party payment and QR code payment, have flourished in China.

Worldpay

Relevant data shows that the scale of China's mobile payment market has increased nearly 20 times in the past four years; as of the end of October 2017, China's mobile payment transactions amounted to nearly 150 trillion yuan, ranking first in the world.

In its annual Global Payment Report, Worldpay, the independent payment service operator, predicts that by 2021, China's e-commerce market will grow by 11%, ranking first in the global e-commerce market.

“Because consumers are more eager for a variety of payment methods when making online purchases,

China has once again led the new global trend.

Traditional options such as credit cards and debit cards are fading away.

E-wallets, bank transfers, etc. are on the rise. ”

Chen Guoshan, general manager of Worldpay China, said.

Nowadays, in the offline merchant stores in dozens of countries and regions in Europe, America, Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, etc., the scope of “Chinese-style payment” can cover almost all kinds of food, drink and entertainment such as restaurants, supermarkets, convenience stores, theme parks and leisure. Scenes.

Rooted in China's economic vitality

In fact, as early as the 1990s,

Two-dimensional code payment technology has been formed.

Among them, South Korea and Japan are countries that use the QR code to pay earlier.

So why is QR code payment a sign of “Chinese payment” and going global?

Need to see that modern currency is a credit currency,

The corresponding payment method must also have strong credit support.

After years of reform and opening up,

China’s economic aggregate has already ranked second in the world.

The contribution rate of economic growth is the highest in the world.

The consumption of the people and the market volume are very large.

Mobile payment methods such as two-dimensional code take the lead in e-commerce and develop rapidly in China.

Realizing the credit accumulation of the industry while rapidly expanding the user base.

Thus, it has become a "Chinese-style payment" with the characteristics of the times.

And then strode to the world's successful counterattack.

Wan Hao, chief economist of the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission, said in an interview with this reporter.

“Chinese-style payment” can flourish and spread overseas.

And China’s status in international trade,

The degree of internationalization of the renminbi has deepened,

Financial supervision is in place,

The rapid development of the Internet infrastructure is related to many factors.

But in the final analysis, the growth of "Chinese-style payment" is rooted in China's economic vitality.

新规明确支付机构向客户提供基于条码的付款服务时应取得网络支付业务许可;

. "First of all, with the expansion of economic development and opening up, China's foreign trade level continues to increase,

Commodity types, trade structure, export amount, and settlement rules all have great global influence, which constitutes the economic basis for ‘Chinese-style payment’ to go overseas.

Second, as China’s overall economic strength improves and Chinese companies continue to “go out”,

The international credit and international status of the renminbi are also constantly improving.

This provides a solid basis for currency clearing for ‘Chinese-style payments’ going global.

Finally, China used to lag behind abroad in financial and communication infrastructure.

Therefore, the previous generation of electronic payment such as bank cards, credit cards, and POS machines was flown from abroad to China.

With the improvement of infrastructure and the improvement of people's living standards, China has achieved overtaking in the field of mobile payment and has begun to lead overseas. Said Wan Hao.

At the same time, policy support and regulation cannot be ignored in this process.

For example, in order to promote the healthy development of the mobile payment industry, the People's Bank of China issued the "Bar Code Payment Service Specification (Trial)" and "Bar Code Payment Acceptance Terminal Technical Specification (Trial)" at the end of 2017.

A number of specific requirements were also announced.

For example, in terms of access qualifications,

The new rules stipulate that payment agencies should obtain online payment service licenses when providing barcode-based payment services to customers;

In preventing credit card cashing,

The new regulations require all small and micro businesses that are handled by the same identity card at the same acquiring institution.

The credit card-based payment payment amount is not more than 1,000 yuan.

The monthly total does not exceed 10,000 yuan.

Dong Xiwei, senior researcher at Chongyang Financial Research Institute of Renmin University of China, believes that

China’s mobile payments have surpassed Internet payments in 2016.

Become an important support for retail payments.

This is related to the frequent cross-border trade and personnel exchanges in recent years.

As an important part of financial openness,

In the future, China's regulatory level will need to further participate in the international governance of the payment industry.

坚持以民间为主、以市场需求为主,顺其自然地发展;

Conducive to deepen economic and trade interaction

Data from the World Bank show that

There are still 2 billion people in developing countries who do not have bank accounts.

Only 10% of people hold credit cards.

Only 21% of those with loan needs receive loans through formal financial institutions.

More than 680 million people in ASEAN countries,

Of these, 360 million people have so far been unable to obtain basic banking services.

It can be seen from this that

“Chinese-style payment” is now more dependent on Chinese merchants to trade overseas.

There is still great potential for serving local consumers in the future.

There is also a long way to go.

For example, India is a big movie country, and watching movies at home is an important entertainment method for Indians.

The habit of Indian people watching movies has long been to the cinema, choose movies and games on the spot, queue up to buy tickets, and then wait for an hour or two to enter.

Later, Ant Financial recommended that Indian companies expand their online ticket purchase function. The other party once felt that this would not work. They thought that Indians prefer to go to the cinema to queue up for tickets and enjoy a sense of surprise.

But Ant Financial insists that with the development of the Indian economy and the rise of the middle class, convenience and time will become increasingly scarce.

Later, it turned out that one-six movie tickets were sold online through the online payment model from China within a month of landing in India.

In 2017, the world economic recovery was better than expected, and international market demand picked up.

According to the statistics of the World Trade Organization, in the first three quarters of last year, the world's 70 major economies, the total export value of goods trade increased by more than 9% year-on-year, and the trade growth was obvious.

At the same time, the total value of China's import and export of goods in 2017 was 27.79 trillion yuan.

It is 14.2% more than 2016.

This means that in the context of the slow recovery of world economic and trade,

"Chinese-style payment" will also have more use.

“Mobile Internet-based payments are growing very rapidly in China,

Even more than many advanced economies.

In this context, China remains unwaveringly based on technology, finance, innovation and the stage of economic development in which it operates.

Adhere to opening up to the outside world and persist in building a community of human destiny.

This is also conducive to other countries accepting the introduction of 'Chinese payment'. Said Wan Hao.

Wan Hao further pointed out that

The popularity of "Chinese-style payment" in the world will also be of great benefit to China's opening up to the outside world.

Conducive to the promotion of China's service trade, financial technology and consumer culture,

At the same time, the process and progress of the RMB internationalization will be deepened.

Wan Hao suggested that "Chinese-style payment" should go further in the world,

On the one hand, we must grasp a degree,

Pay attention to the concerns of other trading partners about safety risks,

Adhere to the principle of the people, focus on market demand, and develop naturally;

On the other hand, payment companies should also pay attention to social responsibility.

At the same time, the state should also introduce relevant laws and regulations to make the market order more mature and perfect.
